Cha-Cha-Changes
By Sandy Krause 8-17-23
New things, even the ones we want, cause stress. That’s true for NTs and ASD folks. But change is going to happen. It’s the natural order of things. Nature reminds us of this lesson with new weather moment to moment and seasonal changes. The world keeps moving as we age, and our technology, culture, and social patterns shift.
We must adapt and do what’s best for our group in the future. A safe, secure, and reliable meeting space provides a consistent vehicle for communication with our members. We want to serve our members the best we can by forecasting what’s coming, so we can adapt.
With that in mind, this is a heads-up. We’re looking at a venue change for our meetings. We won’t move too far. We’ll stay near bus lines and with a parking lot. Stability and cost-effectiveness are the factors encouraging the change. Keep up with your meetup messages so you don’t go to an old location after the change happens. We’ll let you know with plenty of lead time. Of course, we’ll all go through a period of adjustment, but once we settle in, it will be good. We enjoy stability and are looking into providing a meeting place that is just that.
A radio show featuring our group was taped a few weeks ago. Its air date was changed, but it’s now scheduled for Sunday, August 19th, at 10 AM on WISN AM. This is another way to get information out about our group to reach the folks who can benefit from joining us. Brandon, our Treasurer and long-term group leader, has been busy creating a webpage, blog, and updated Facebook page.
This is your group. Get involved. Write for the blog. Step into leadership to guide where we go. Speak on a panel when we get those opportunities to teach about autism. Our group is about empowerment, after all, autism empowerment. Our allies are here to help, but your voice needs to lead.
